Almagul Menlibayeva’s Daughters of Turan
I recently wrote a review of Almagul Menlibayeva’s exhibition Daughters of Turan for Art Asia Pacific magazine. This exhibition of recent video and photographs, all executed in 2010 by Menlibayeva, introduces the viewer to the history and culture of her native Kazakhstan. This is her third exhibition at the Priska C. Juschka Fine Art Gallery, New York.
Almagul Menlibayeva’s Before the Apocalypse
One of a handful artists working in this remote area, during the past three years Menlibayeva has developed a strong pictorial sensibility. Educated under the canon of Social Realism at the Art Academy in the capital of Almaty, she continues to work with a poetic vision of landscapes and ethnographic references.
